The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education and Outdoor Wildlife Learning Hong Kong Sign Collaboration Framework Agreement,
Joining Hands to Nurture Future Leaders Committed to Sustainable Development
(Hong Kong – 17 October 2026) – The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) and Outdoor Wildlife Learning Hong Kong (OWLHK) formally signed a Collaboration Framework Agreement (CFA) today, further strengthening the partnership established between the two organisations. Over the years, HKAGE and OWLHK have collaborated to provide ecological conservation and outdoor learning programmes for HKAGE student members (members). Through learning experiences that integrate theory and practice, members are guided to explore nature, deepen their understanding of ecology and develop awareness of environmental issues.
Promoting Environmental Education and Nurturing Gifted Students with a Vision for Sustainable Development
The HKAGE believes that gifted education is not only about nurturing exceptional abilities, but also about empowering members to apply their talents in addressing societal and global challenges. As issues such as climate change, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development continue to attract growing attention, future leaders should possess not only outstanding abilities, but also a global perspective, a strong sense of social responsibility and a spirit of service. Since 2022, the HKAGE and OWLHK have collaborated on a variety of ecological conservation programmes and learning activities. Through expert-led talks, field studies and inquiry-based learning, members are guided to gain a deeper understanding of Hong Kong's rich natural ecology and conservation efforts, enhancing their awareness of and concern for sustainable development issues.
Mr WONG Chung Po, Acting Executive Director of the HKAGE, said: “The HKAGE has always attached great importance to the whole person development of its members and encourages them to apply their talents to address societal needs. We believe that future leaders should not only possess outstanding knowledge and capabilities but also care about the sustainable development of society and the environment. Over the years, OWLHK has provided our members with rich and inspiring ecological learning experiences, guiding them from understanding nature to caring for the environment. The signing of this CFA will further strengthen our collaboration, create more high-quality learning opportunities for our members, and encourage them to use their strengths to contribute to a sustainable future.
Dr Xoni MA, Founder and Education Director of OWLHK, said: “According to the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, naturalistic intelligence – a strong interest in nature and biodiversity, coupled with a keen ability to observe and discern relationships within the natural world – is one of the eight key areas of human intelligence. OWLHK has long been committed to promoting environmental education and nature conservation in Hong Kong through outdoor ecological education. We look forward to working closely with HKAGE to nurture more local talents in support of the implementation of the Hong Kong Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan and the development of future green industries, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Hong Kong.”
Members Share Learning Experiences and Demonstrate the Value of Environmental Education
Following the signing ceremony, Mr Pan LAU, Project and Conservation Manager of OWLHK, conducted an ecology-themed talk and interactive experiential activities centred on dragonflies, a common species in Hong Kong. Through expert sharing, members learned about the important role of dragonflies within ecosystems and explored food chain dynamics, the impact of climate change on biodiversity, and the relationship between humans and nature. Members also took part in a dragonfly-themed craft activity, creating their own dragonfly handicrafts. By combining knowledge with creativity through experiential learning, they explored nature and conservation issues in an engaging and enjoyable way.
During the event, two members who had previously participated in ecological programmes shared their learning experiences and insights. They remarked that the programmes not only enhanced their understanding of Hong Kong's natural ecology and conservation work, but also inspired them, through observation, inquiry and first-hand experiences, to reflect on how they could respond to sustainable development challenges through knowledge and action and bring positive change to the environment and society.
