HKAGE Collaborates with HKIAA: Identifying and Nurturing Aviation Elites

(Hong Kong – 24 November 2023) – The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) and the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA) today signed a collaboration framework agreement (CFA) to strengthen our partnership in identifying and nurturing aviation talents in Hong Kong.

To promote talent development under gifted education, the HKAGE and HKIAA co-organised a unique aviation programme for gifted students during the Easter holiday this year. Divided into three phases, this 4-month programme provided gifted students with the opportunity to go deep into the core areas of the air transport industry, delve into the advanced management systems, explore high-end technology facilities, and engage with aviation professionals to gain insights into smart airport operations, aircraft engineering, air traffic management, and sustainable aviation development.

As global transport returns to normalcy and the tourism industry rapidly recovers, Hong Kong's role as an international aviation hub is set to be further strengthened and consolidated in the future. This growth will lead to an increased demand for aviation talents in Hong Kong, not only in frontline roles like pilots and flight attendants but also in areas such as airport management, catering, and aircraft maintenance. Early exposure to the aviation industry will greatly benefit our gifted students in planning their future careers.

Dr Jimmy WONG, Executive Director of the HKAGE, said, "We are delighted to sign a CFA with the HKIAA today, that it will enhance our collaboration and provide more learning opportunities for gifted students. By leveraging the expertise and resources of both institutions, the collaboration will create a pathway for gifted students to thrive in the aviation sector. We will design more programmes and activities for our gifted students to explore their interest in the aviation industry, broaden their horizons, and enable them to understand the operation behind smart airports. This effort aims to discover and nurture aviation talents for Hong Kong as well as talents with technology management skills for the 21st century."
