Rebounding after the Pandemic: Hong Kong Students Shine at IBO

(Hong Kong — 5 September 2023) Four student members from The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) participated in the 34th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) held in the United Arab Emirates in early to mid-July. Among the 293 student contestants from 76 countries, they achieved remarkable results, winning three silver and one bronze medal.

HUI Sze-man, TSE Kin-long, and ZHANG Yixuan were awarded silver medals, while CHEANG Man-hin earned a bronze medal. During the toasting ceremony organised by the Education Bureau, they expressed their joy of representing Hong Kong at the IBO and interacting with science enthusiasts from around the world after the pandemic. They all aspire to pursue further studies in science-related areas in the future.
