Experience Sharing Day 2022/23

(Hong Kong – 22 August 2023) The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE/Academy) organised its annual Experience Sharing Day (ESD) today to warmly welcome new student members into the Academy and give them a glance at the upcoming fascinating learning journeys by introducing the diversified programmes and activities.

These newcomers joined the academy mainly through the School Nomination and Self Nomination schemes. The entire nomination, screening, and registration process commenced in September 2022 and concluded in June 2023. Only those nominees, who could complete and pass two stages of selection, would enroll as HKAGE student members. In the 2022/23 school year, the Academy accepted more than 11,000 nominees to participate in “Phase 1: Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education Online Selection Learning Programme" and eventually admitted 1,600 students. Another 110 students with leadership attributes enrolled through the newly launched "Principal Nomination".

The ESD is held annually to provide new students with an initial understanding of the Academy's gifted education programmes. The event was held online this year. Representatives of each programme team and the Assessment & Consultation Centre introduced their characteristics, services, and the different types of programmes offered by the Academy, including "Whole Person Development", "Enrichment and Diversified Learning", "Advanced Learning", "Specialisation and Innovation " and more. More than 400 new student members were received.

Nomination Procedures during the 2023/24 School Year

The HKAGE accepts gifted students between the ages of 10 to 18, primarily through the "School Nomination" and "Self-Nomination" schemes each academic year. Interested gifted students must apply for the "Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education Online Selection Programme"(Stage 1). Only those who successfully pass the Selection Programme are eligible to proceed to submit their profiles for further screening.

Beginning in the 2022/23 school year, the “Principal’s Nomination” has been introduced to complement the existing “School Nomination” process and target students with exceptional leadership attributes. Each secondary school has the privilege to nominate one potential student from Secondary 2 to Secondary 4 to the HKAGE. These nominated students are exempt from Stage 1 screening and will instead be invited to submit their personal profiles for assessment as required.

The nomination period will start in September. For more detailed information, please visit the following website:
