The HKAGE Announces Appointment of New Executive Director

(Hong Kong — 31 December 2025) The Board of Directors of The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) announced today the appointment of Dr Martin SZETO as the new Executive Director with effect from 5 January 2026, following the retirement of Dr Jimmy WONG.

Dr SZETO holds a Master’s degree and a Doctorate degree in Business Administration and possesses 30 years of experience in corporate administration and management. He held senior management positions at several multinational corporations, including the Chief Operating Officer of the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute, making significant contribution to enhancing operational efficiency and strategic development.

With extensive teaching experience, Dr SZETO also shares a passion for academic and educational affairs. He served as a Professor of Practice at the School of Accounting and Finance at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Economics and Finance at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Business School of the University of Hong Kong. He is dedicated to nurturing local talent and has made substantial contribution to the education sector.

Mr Paul TAI, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the HKAGE, welcomed the appointment, “Dr SZETO has great corporate management experience and enthusiasm for education and innovation and technology. I am confident that his leadership experience will inject new thinking and perspectives into the HKAGE and  deepen its connection and collaboration with the school sector, tertiary and research institutions as well as the wider community, which will open up more diverse and forward-looking development pathways for gifted students in Hong Kong.”

On behalf of the Board of Directors, respective Committees and staff, Mr TAI also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing Executive Director, Dr WONG. He said that, since assuming the role of Executive Director in 2021, Dr WONG has taken the HKAGE to another stage through promulgating the “Talent Development Model” systematically and implementing various key curriculum development initiatives including whole person development, mentorship programmes, etc., to render all-round support for the HKAGE student members. Dr WONG’s passion and vision for gifted education are deeply ingrained in the HKAGE, which will continue to drive the HKAGE forward under the leadership of Dr SZETO

About the HKAGE

Established in 2008 and subvented by the Education Bureau, the HKAGE offers gifted education services actively to local primary and secondary school students to unleash their potential. It also provides gifted education-related information and support for teachers, parents, and other relevant stakeholders.
