Services Available in the Consultation and Assessment Centre

Student and their parents are welcome to use the following services.

1. Free Frontline Services

A free phone and email hotline is manned by our professional staff who will provide information and advice to our parents who face issues or challenges in parenting their gifted children.

2. Charged Second-line Services
Face to Face Consultation /Counselling serviceThe service is provided by our Psychologist to students and/or their parents to help those students in facing challenges during their development.

3. Assessment Services

Telephone intake by our professional staff will be conducted prior to the arrangement of the assessment service. Due to the large demand for our services, the average waiting time is about 2 to 3 months.

Intellectual Assessment

This service will be provided by our Psychologists. The assessment session, lasting for about 2 to 3 hours, contains a parent interview and a child assessment using the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fourth Edition (Hong Kong) (WISC-IV(HK)). Afterwards, a psychological report and a debriefing session will be provided to the parent(s) in another session.

Fee Remission

The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) operates on an inclusiveness basis to provide programmes and services for all parents, regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds.

Fees could be waived for the HKAGE parent education programmes and support services* if the applicants are receiving eligible subsidies based on Comprehensive Social Security Assistance and Student Financial Assistance Agency Schemes (full grant). For details, please refer to the following table:

To apply for fee remission, please submit a copy of the documentary evidence of one of the aforementioned government subsidies to the HKAGE on registration and show its original copy on the programme/service commencement date for verification. Wherever appropriate, the HKAGE may contact the applicant for more information.

Fee remission granted to the successful applicants will be aligned with the valid period of the aforementioned receiving government subsidies. Please note that the programme/service fee will only be waived where its commencement date should lie within the valid period of the above government subsidies.
