HKAGE Welcomes New Board Members
(Hong Kong – 27 November 2019) The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE) announced today the appointment of Ir Dr Alan LAM Hiu Fung as the Chairman of the Board of Directors (Board), succeeding Mr Frederick LAM Yun Fu. Two new directors are also appointed, namely Mr Sidney YUEN Tak Man and Dr CHU Kai Wing. The term of appointment is 2 years, effective from 28 November 2019.
Ir Dr Alan LAM Hiu Fung, Chairman of a group of companies in IT industry, is a seasoned engineering professional who was named as one of the five local innovation heroes by the Hong Kong Science Park in 2015, and selected by the Junior Chamber International Hong Kong (JCI) as one of the Ten Most Outstanding Young Persons of 2015. He is active in professional and public services, currently serving as adjunct professor in the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the City University of Hong Kong; Director of the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute; and Advisory Board Member of the Engineering Faculty and departments of numerous tertiary institutions, etc.
Professor NG Tai Kai, Executive Director of the HKAGE, welcomed the appointment of new Board Members and said, ‘Ir Dr LAM, Mr YUEN and Dr CHU are remarkable persons in their professions. Their passion in supporting the young generation together with their expertise would undoubtedly bring forth new perspectives to the Board in devising the HKAGE’s future strategies.’
In addition to the retirement of Mr Frederick LAM, Mr Gyver LAU Kwok Leung, Mrs Vivian LO CHI Man Wai, Ms Claudia LING Wai Shan, and The Honorable Ms Emily LAU Wai Hing, JP will also be retiring from the Board with effect from 28 November 2019. Professor NG thanked them for their outstanding contributions, ‘On behalf of the whole team, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the retiring Board Members for their valuable guidance and dedication to the HKAGE over the past years, making it run smoothly and grow robustly. We wish them well and look forward to their continuous support in other capacities.’
The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education, a subvented non-governmental organisation, was established in 2008. It aims at serving the education sector in Hong Kong, offering high quality information and appropriate learning opportunities to students, teachers, parents and other stakeholders engaged in gifted education. Most of its programmes are provided free-of-charge.
